About Us
After attending a conference in 2015, Jessie Borgman and Casey McArdle were inspired to co-created a resources website and social media community for online writing instructors called, The Online Writing Instruction Community (www.owicommunity.org). Along with their website, they co-created the PARS approach to online writing instruction. They wanted to create an approach that encompassed their philosophy of OWI and create a resources website to help online writing instructors who had little training and preparation; those who "learned through trail and error" like they did.
They co-authored a book (released in the fall of 2019) titled, Personal, Accessible, Responsive, Strategic: Resources and Strategies for Online Writing Instructors, based on their PARS approach to online writing instruction. They are currently hosting workshops on online writing instruction, and working on an edited collection, PARS in Practice: More Resources and Strategies for Online Writing Instructors. They can be reached at theowicommunity@gmail.com
